Sakamoto Days Episode 1

 

After a long wait, the anime about a brutal assassin is finally here, and now it's about an uncle who guards a convenience store. Sakamoto Days is an anime based on a popular manga that has already aired its first episode on Netflix. The story of Sakamoto Days is about assassins who challenge their skills to kill and those who seek revenge. Taro Sakamoto, a former undefeated number one assassin, finally retires after falling in love with a beautiful woman in a convenience store. He decides to get married, have children, and become an uncle within 5 years of retirement. However, his past eventually comes back to haunt him (the ones who are haunted are the assassins who come to test his uncle). That's the rough story of this anime. Let's see what's interesting about the first episode of Sakamoto Days.

The entire story that was mentioned earlier is a summary of the content that the anime has told us from the beginning, which tells us that Sakamoto Taro is so skilled and strong that he can kill an entire organization by himself. But he was defeated by a cute girl and was ready to leave everything (almost everything) to live a peaceful life with his wife and child. Until time passed, the organization that should have been looking for Sakamoto all along must have just found him and sent assassins to take care of Sakamoto. Because once you enter the assassin world, it's not easy to leave. Especially a legend like Sakamoto, everyone wants him to continue working.

But even so, our Uncle Sakamoto is not 100% retired like we thought. Judging from the hidden gun and his skills that haven't dropped at all (he's already superhuman to be able to catch a bullet with chopsticks), it means that our Uncle Sakamoto is constantly training to be ready for the day when the assassins come after him. In fact, he's not hiding anything. Plus, the name of the convenience store is clearly written as Sakamoto's Store. The assassins just couldn't find him. And everything Uncle Sakamoto does is just to protect his ordinary life and his family. It seems that his wife and children don't even know that he's a top assassin. This should be the main point of this story.

Next, we know that in the Sakamoto Days universe, there will be people with various special powers, which Uncle Sakamoto himself probably has as well (this is a guess because the author didn't read the manga in advance but watched the anime with many others). Or maybe he's just an ordinary person who's extremely skilled. The assassin with special powers who appeared in the first episode was Shin Asakura, nicknamed Esper Shin, who can read people's minds, but the range of mind reading is short. The next people who will appear in the story will definitely have more brutal special powers.

In addition, the first episode also introduces something that assassins have never experienced before, which Sakamoto himself only realized when he met his beloved wife: the warmth of something called family and the happiness that comes from being with the people we love. That is the main point of this anime, where Uncle Sakamoto's goal is to protect his family and this warm and fluffy life for the rest of his life and he will not allow anyone to destroy that peace (whoever destroys it will definitely not die, I tell you). After watching it, I wanted to see the next episode to see which assassin will challenge (get beaten up by Uncle Sakamoto).

If anyone has read up to this point and hasn’t seen Sakamoto Days, it’s now available on Netflix with both Thai subtitles and Thai dubbing (you can watch the ads, they promote it many times). The Thai dubbing might sound strange because there are many new voice actors providing the voices, but the familiar voices that we’re used to are all there. I guarantee that you won’t be annoyed after watching it (give new Thai voice actors a chance to open their minds).
