The reaction was the opposite of what Marvel Rivals fans expected, who were unhappy that the Lady Loki skin was only available for a limited time.

It came as quite a surprise with the release of the Lady Loki skin, a variant of Loki we've grown familiar with from the Loki series. Previously, NetEase dropped hints during the Season 5 launch, where we briefly saw a female Loki walking alongside the male version. This led many to speculate that a female skin was coming, though some doubted NetEase would invest in hiring female voice actors across multiple languages for just a single skin. However, NetEase followed through, launching it as a year-end surprise for 2025. While the skin received an overwhelmingly positive response from fans, including those in Thailand, there has been an undercurrent of dissatisfaction. The issue isn't the skin itself, but the 'limited-time' sales tactic known as FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). In short, it’s a 'buy it now or it's gone forever' approach. Let’s dive into the origins of this frustration and why it has sparked such a backlash

The dissatisfaction regarding limited-time special skin sales, known as FOMO, has occurred multiple times in Marvel Rivals. Some players may not have had the time to purchase them or lacked the funds to top up at that moment, leading them to miss out on skins they desired repeatedly. This has prompted many users on Twitter (X) and Reddit to complain about the limited-time availability of the Lady Loki skin. One Reddit user, Gabrielhrd, criticized NetEase, stating: 'They are using FOMO tactics more and more. If you don't know, FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) is the pressure you feel when something you want is available for a limited time only, and it’s often seen as a poor tactic to push people into buying things they might otherwise wait to purchase later.' Many who agreed described it as an 'intimidation tactic' to force immediate spending before the item disappears, calling it unfair to the consumers

And if you were to argue that Marvel Rivals does frequently bring back old skins in the future (except for certain skins from the game’s Alpha and Beta versions), many counter-argue that NetEase continues to manipulate players using FOMO tactics. They do this by never explicitly stating when—or if—those skins will ever return. You might have to wait for months, years, or they might never reappear at all. We have no way of knowing when the Lady Loki skin will be available again after it leaves the shop on January 30, 2026

Or if you were to say, 'You had a whole month, why complain if you missed the purchase window?', this needs to be viewed from the perspective of people who were unaware of the situation or found out too late. Some might not have the immediate funds ready, as the skins aren't cheap and cost a significant amount of money. Others might be saving up blue or gold coins to exchange, and might not meet the deadline. We shouldn't compare ourselves to others, as the value of a hundred units of currency to one person might not be the same as to another. This limited-time sale is a marketing tactic that subtly tells buyers, 'Hurry up and buy, or it will be gone.' This is precisely why people are dissatisfied. That is the core issue of this news story. And what do you think about this matter?
