Reports suggest that even Rockstar employees themselves are not 100% certain if GTA 6 will be finished by the end of the year
It has been over two years since the Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) trailer was released on December 5, 2023. Now that we've entered 2026, the game has already been delayed twice—this time pushed back to November 19, 2026, which coincidentally happens to be World Toilet Day (not that it’s related to the game, but I just happened to find that out).
Many are hopeful that fans worldwide will finally get to play this game after waiting over a decade since GTA 5 launched in 2013. The game should currently be in its final stages of development, with just some minor polishing and fine-tuning left to ensure a perfect release. However, the latest report from insider Jason Schreier suggests that 'even Rockstar's own employees aren't 100% sure if GTA 6 will be ready by the end of the year.' Let’s dive into the details
This information comes from an interview on the Button Mash podcast, where Jason Schreier provided an update on the development of GTA 6. He noted that the game is not yet 'Content Ready,' making it difficult to say whether the studio can meet the November 19 release deadline (yikes!).

Jason stated, 'The latest info I have is that the game is not yet content complete. This means the team is still finalizing various elements, including level design, missions, and deciding which parts will actually make the cut for the final version of the game
He further specified that the 'Content Complete' stage occurs after 'Feature Complete' (where all core systems are functional) and before the bug-fixing phase. However, developers can always add more content even during the debugging process. Jason added, 'It's really hard to say right now, and I don't think there is anyone at Rockstar who can tell you with 100% certainty whether they will be able to release the game this November or not
He added that the development team feels this current schedule (November 19) is more realistic and stable than the previous May deadline. Many are hoping the game won't face another delay, as any further pushback would almost certainly move the release to 2027. On the other hand, if rushing the game leads to a disaster like the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, most would prefer to wait for a fully polished product rather than deal with that. What do you think about this?
