I don’t know who else is like this, but when an announcement is made about an old game being remade or remastered, we tend to feel older immediately because in the past we used to play and have fun with those games. Until one point, the game company took the old game, adjusted the graphics a bit, adjusted the screen size a bit, and then sold it in this era to make money. Old games like this are mostly sold to older people, like the legendary sequel Onimusha 2, which was remastered with better graphics to sell to fans who miss this game with Brother Somrak Kamsing (at that time, our local game magazines teased us like this) to come back and play it again. Let’s take a look at the information about Onimusha 2 Remaster, what’s interesting about it.
For those who don’t know the samurai demon-slaying game series, Onimusha is a game inspired by the Resident Evil series that was changed to a samurai theme instead of guns. We will play the role of a young samurai who is on a mission to defeat demons using the power of giants given to us. The second part will have a new story, new characters, and a new gameplay system that is different from the first part. Onimusha 2 will be more of an RPG than the previous parts, including finding information and calling friends in the game to do missions. But the combat, emotions, and even the scenes will still be based on the first Onimusha. In Onimusha 2, the late legendary Japanese actor, Yusaku Matsuda, will play the role of Yagyu Jubei.
The origin of this announcement was in the latest Capcom Spotlight event that was held yesterday. One of the announcements during the event was that Onimusha 2 Samurai's Destiny will be getting a remaster for release this year. If anyone remembers, in 2018, Capcom sold Onimusha Warlords, the first game in the series, as a remaster. Many people said that it had almost no change from the PlayStation 2 version, apart from the price. Plus, Onimusha Warlords Remaster also sold very poorly, so many people didn't expect there to be a sequel. But in the end, the sequel to the Onimusha series, Onimusha Way of the Sword, is coming. So, it's not surprising that Capcom will use this trend to sell Onimusha 2 Remaster.
Arriving at this point, I believe that many old gamers would definitely like to play Onimusha 2 Remaster because, to be honest, the gameplay of Onimusha 2 is much better than the first game in terms of story, gameplay, and control (not counting the characters in the first game that are cooler). However, many people say that if they were to remake Onimusha 2, it would be better to remaster Onimusha 3 because in that game, our first protagonist traveled to the present day in France, alternating with new characters who traveled back to ancient Japan, which is much more fun to play. We'll have to wait and see if Onimusha 2 Remaster sells well, and we'll definitely see Onimusha 3 Remaster. If there's any progress, we'll report it again
