We’ve finally entered the "Dream Realm" arc in Kamen Rider Zeztz Episode 20. This marks the beginning of Phase 2, where the villains' master plan is truly starting to take shape.
We aren't dealing with your typical, "weak" villains who simply send out a random monster of the week with shallow, repetitive schemes—failing once only to try the same thing again like in the old days. The antagonists in Kamen Rider Zeztz are different. Every move they make, including their plot to send monsters into people’s dreams, serves a deeper purpose.
While it seems like Zeztz has successfully crushed their plans every time, we have to ask: Is this actually a victory for Zeztz and the CODE organization in stopping these nightmares? Or is this exactly what Nox wanted all along? In this episode, it seems the seeds planted by Nox are finally beginning to bear fruit.
Let’s dive in and see what interesting developments await us in Kamen Rider Zeztz Episode 20.
This time, the dream world revolves around a Hero setting out to defeat a Demon Lord, much like a classic Japanese RPG. It’s immediately obvious that this is the dream of a young boy longing for adventure. In this fantasy, Nemu-chan takes on the role of the "Hero," while Baku (Seven) is relegated to being a mere "Villain A" (Commoner A).
The story begins with character introductions before shifting to Nox spying on Baku's group. However, Number 6 is also spying on Nox in return (essentially "spying on the spy who is spying").
Number 6’s mission is to locate Nox’s hideout by planting a tracking device. At first, many viewers might be confused as to why she’s taking a shot at Nox, but the true purpose was a clever ruse: she used the attack as a cover to successfully attach the tracker.
As for Seven and Nemu-chan, they encounter a Nightmare—the exact same creature Nemu-chan saw in the vision Nox showed her in the previous episode. It looks like a "kawaii" or cutesy monster (though, where is the cuteness exactly?) that appears completely harmless. However, once Zeztz defeats this Nightmare, they discover there are many more just like it.
Interestingly, this Nightmare is a separate entity from the young boy who couldn't draw to save his life but suddenly started producing beautiful artwork. (You’ve got to hand it to Number 6; back in her journalist days, she was sharp—realizing something was wrong just because a kid drew a monster so well!) The mystery of why the boy’s drawing skills suddenly peaked to the point of catching Number 6’s attention will likely be revealed in the next episode
Another fascinating aspect is Nox’s master plan. He isn't just sending out monsters on an episodic basis; he’s playing the long game. In this episode, we see the dreams of two different children merging—a literal "Dream Connection."
This is actually a ripple effect from the events of Episode 3, where a Nightmare managed to cross over into the real world. That event opened a dimensional gateway between the two realms, allowing "Dream Butterflies" (or larval-stage Nightmares) to embed themselves within everyone. Their ultimate goal? To link the dreams of every human being into a single, unified space. It’s a brilliant piece of storytelling that shows just how meticulously the villains' schemes have been constructed from the very beginning
As we reach the climax of the episode, Number 6 confronts Nox once again, accompanied by a mysterious male Rider.
For those wondering: "If they already planted a tracker, why come out and fight Nox now? Wouldn't that ruin the plan?" Well, there’s a logical explanation. Even though Number 6 tagged Nox with the tracker, the guy simply refuses to return to his base! He can’t be found in the real world, either. Therefore, the only way to force Nox back to his hideout is to beat him within an inch of his life so he has no choice but to retreat. That is why this battle begins.
This mysterious Rider uses a Capsem—the same type Nox uses for his transformation—but the belt itself is a completely different model.
In the next episode, the human form of this Mysterious Rider will finally be revealed. We’ll find out his true identity, which Code Number he holds, and—most excitingly—we will see Number 6’s transformation (Henshin) for the first time!
What will happen next? Let’s wait and find out in the next episode!
