Dandadan Episode 12

 

We have reached episode 12 of the anime, You and Me and the Alien Ghosts, Dandadan. The story in this episode continues from the end of episode 11. In the previous episode, Okarun, Momo, and Jiji chased after the running anatomical doll with the golden balloon that Momo saw, which led to a chase. At the end, we learn that the anatomical doll that suddenly started running came to find the female anatomical doll that was abandoned in a garbage dump. Confessing love and doing everything for the person she loves makes our Okarun determined not to back down and will move forward to steal Momo-chan's heart.

Of course, even though Okarun said that he would try to fight in this battle for his heart, but when he saw that Momo-chan was close to Jiji, a sensitive young man who thought that he was nothing better than the other person, he felt a bit discouraged. Some men who have similar personalities to men like Okarun would understand this well. For example, we like a girl who is a friend in class. One day, a senior who is a school athlete likes the girl we like. And when we find out that the senior has known our girl friend since childhood and their houses are next door, anyone would feel defeated and have no way of winning the heart of their friend. That is how Okarun feels right now. But when he decides to fight, he is ready to fight even though he is afraid. Because if he doesn't decide to do it now, he might regret it for the rest of his life.

And of course, Jiji herself knows that Okarun likes Momo because men can sense their love rivalry without saying it (a simple thing that women don't know). But there are very few couples who dare to ask the other person directly that you like her too because even if you don't say it, we know it anyway. When Okarun knows that Jiji likes Momo, Okarun is ready to go all the way without backing down. As for the talk back and forth that each person is better than the other, to be honest, it's normal for men to think to comfort themselves that we've held hands, talked, and done things to make ourselves feel better than the other person, just like Okarun feels that she's one step better than Jiji because they've kissed each other until their teeth clashed. It's just that men don't often say it to the other person.

Continuing with the story of the anatomical doll that comes out to run at night. To be honest, it's one of the horror stories in Japan. If anyone liked watching or reading ghost manga in the 90s, they've probably seen this joke before. And if you're wondering if no one would be suspicious of an anatomical doll running like this, if you look at this story in terms of reality, it's strange. But don't forget that this anime was written in this era. It's normal for us to see people dressed strangely walking on the street (I think), just like we see people dressed strangely in foreign clips or something.

Back to the main content of the anime, when the story of the anatomy ends well, we know that Jiji, who is cheerful and energetic all the time, is actually secretly stressed and depressed and can't sleep almost every night because he feels the presence of the spirit in the house that will follow him. Until many people start to think that maybe the spirit is in Jiji's body (the author has not read the manga, only watched the anime, so this is just a guess). It's like the rule of spirits that says when we make eye contact and sense its presence, the spirit will be able to follow us all the time. But it will be weak during the day, like Momo said. So it's not strange that Jiji feels pressured at night.

Next up are the villagers. If we cut out the scene where they bathe in the communal hot spring, which looks like a familiar Japanese adult film, these villagers have strange behaviors that many people would think are definitely aliens. And this spirit could be from the same group or the opposite side. And if I had to guess as someone who hasn’t read the manga, I would guess that the spirit that Jiji encountered is the spirit that protects this place from aliens, like what Okarun said in the previous episodes that these spirits might protect the world from aliens. And Jiji might be able to communicate with the spirits, so the spirits want to borrow the body to use their power or something like that (this is purely a guess). As for the talisman room, did the aliens put a spell on the spirits? (I repeat, purely a guess)

The story is getting more interesting and it seems that the Dandadan anime is almost finished with season 1. We will have to wait and see if Momo will survive the uncles at the hot spring (if it is an adult movie that we have watched, she probably won't survive). And what is the spirit that is with Jiji?
