Blizzard may be hinting at a 43rd hero in Overwatch 2

 

Whether it's an attempt by Blizzard to create a hype to bring back the popularity of Overwatch 2, or it could just be a fan's imagination, we don't know. Because right now, there's been a buzz about the 43rd hero that will appear in Overwatch 2. If anyone remembers, ever since Overwatch 2 was launched, new heroes have been announced every other season. In the latest season that we're playing now, there was a tank hero like Hazard for us to play. That means that there won't be a new hero in the next season, but there has to be an announcement or tell fans which heroes will be released in the next season in the future and how they will be tested in that season. Right now, it looks like Blizzard may be hinting at the 43rd hero through the latest released video.

The origin of the rumor of a 43rd hero in Overwatch 2 comes from a commentary video titled The Pocket King released via Overwatch's X platform (with a gold check mark). It reads, "Secrets, lies, and betrayals are just business for Maximilien, and he's willing to do (or say) anything to keep his position at the top. Join Maximilien's voice actor, Stéphane Cornicard, to read 'The Pocket King' and see what's in store for him in Maximilien's Vault." That's what Overwatch on X tells us, but fans think further, as many think Maximilien could be the game's next playable character.

For those who don't know, Maximilien made an appearance in the first Overwatch special, Storm Rising Overwatch Archives. Maximilien is an accountant and casino owner, as well as a money laundering expert, who was wanted by the Talon faction that Overwatch at the time. Although he is an Omnic, he is on the human side. No, it should be said that the human side has more benefits than the Omnic side. In other words, he is Doomfist's confidant. And his appearance and voice in The Pocket King video this time confirms or hints that Maximilien may be the next hero.

And if you think this is all just wild speculation, it's not. Early in the video, Maximilien can be seen typing on a computer console, which Overwatch 2 fans noticed in the video. In particular, a super fan, Hazelet, noticed that Maximilien was typing the number 43 on the keyboard. If we count the number of heroes in Overwatch 2, there are around 42 right now. Hazelet thinks this video could be a subtle clue that Maximilien could be the next playable character in Overwatch 2. She explains this on the X as Hazelet (without the quotation marks), saying, "The character types '43' into the console in the cinematic, and now we have 42 heroes. Maybe this is leading somewhere?"

And if the calculation is not wrong, based on the fact that the characters Juno and Hazard appeared in Overwatch 2 and were tested for about a month before the next season, assuming that the 43rd hero follows the same pattern, this character may appear at the beginning of Season 15 on February 18 and be revealed and tested in late March or maybe early April. We will have to wait and see. If there is any progress, we will rush to report it immediately.
