It’s been more than 8 years since we’ve known, played, and been furious with the cursed blood game Bloodborne, a game that is considered one of the most difficult games created by Miyazaki Hidetaka. It’s quite different from other games that Miyazaki has made, so much so that many people consider Bloodborne to be one of Miyazaki’s crown jewels. But why haven’t we seen a sequel, a remake of the game with improved graphics, or even a PC version of this crown jewel? It’s a mystery that has plagued fans for a long time: what is Sony doing? Why hasn’t it done anything with Bloodborne? Recently, a former PlayStation executive has come out to give his opinion (his personal opinion alone) on why there isn’t a Bloodborne 2 yet. Let’s take a look at why.
This story comes from Mr. Yoshida Shuhei, former executive of PlayStation who will be leaving his position in the next few months, who came out to interview Kinda Funny Games. One of the questions that Mr. Yoshida was asked in this interview was about the game Bloodborne 2. Mr. Yoshida said something like Bloodborne is always the most asked question and people wonder why we don't do anything with this game, such as updating the game, remaking or remastering it. Fans know that Sony likes to remaster or remake their old games, so why don't they remake Bloodborne?
Yoshida didn't directly answer this question, but he did say that he has a theory about why there's no Bloodborne 2 or anything about the game yet. Yoshida said, "I have a personal theory about this, but I have to say that I'm leaving Sony in a few months, so I don't know what's going on. But my theory is that Miyazaki really liked Bloodborne, and he wanted to make it himself. And because it was so successful, he was really busy, so he didn't have time to make it himself. But he didn't want anyone to touch it, and the PlayStation team respected his wishes. That's my theory."
In addition, Yoshida also said that what he said was not secret information, but his thoughts and theories. If anyone remembers, we reported the news last year about the creation of a sequel to Bloodborne, in which Miyazaki said that the Bloodborne game belongs to Sony (Sony hired FromSoftware to make this game, so the copyright to create a sequel belongs to Sony). Miyazaki therefore could not do anything about the game. Until now, we have news of the purchase of shares of Kadokawa Corporation, the parent company of FromSoftware. If what Yoshida said is true, plus the current situation, in the future we may see the progress of Bloodborne soon, who knows?
