It's so hot that it's on fire with the gaming news right now that almost every company is starting to go all out and promote what's going to happen in 2025, starting with the Marvel Rivals game that has a new set of activities and characters that will be released this month. As for Overwatch 2, it's not far behind, announcing additional changes to its own gameplay systems and telling fans what's going to happen this year. And what's no less big news is the announcement of new games at PlayStation's State of Play event, which brought many small and big games. One of the most sensational is the giant armband demon-hunting series, Onimusha Way of the Sword, which this time will reveal the gameplay and initial storyline, allowing us to get to know this hilarious character better.
This time the main character is none other than the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, who uses the Sky Sword Song (not and) the Dual Swords Song of Winner Sasaki Kojiro (as for me, it's Neas, the joke isn't funny, it confuses the readers) with a legendary paddle that we've read in Japanese comic books. In this trailer, we get to see a fight that still fully retains the Onimusha vibe (whoever said it's like Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, slap themselves three times). What's added this time is a system of using objects in the scene to help in fighting, which gives the feeling of a black and white samurai movie with a 10 vs. 1 fight, and the main character uses objects in the scene to help in fighting (but in the subgear trailer, the dog runs away), which is pretty interesting.
In terms of the system that was added that is different from previous games, that is the Parry system. Simply put, it is not quite right, but the Parry system of Onimusha Way of the Sword is a Parry to counterattack, different from other games that are Parry to defend only (which is approximately every time we get a Parry, it is a counterattack). Including attacks to eliminate enemies such as slashing in half and slashing the torso that look terrifying for the brutal. And what you can't miss is the soul sucking system, which these souls come from eliminating demons. The different colors will tell us where to increase power, which Onimusha players probably know well.
Just the first trailer, many people say in unison that it's very fun to play, although there are some things that are a bit annoying, such as the rather slow combat that relies on timing in slashing. It's not like chasing and slashing like in the previous installment, but we rely on timing to parry and counterattack. It will give a feeling similar to Sekiro Shadows Die Twice that has more developed gameplay systems. This is just the first real trailer, there will definitely be more developments, so stay tuned. As for the release of Onimusha Way of the Sword, it hasn't been specified yet, but many people guess that it will be in late 2025 or early 2026 at the latest. If there is any progress, we will report it again.
