Fans speculate that Deadpool in Marvel Rivals might be able to switch roles unpredictably

The intrigue surrounding Deadpool in Marvel Rivals began with his official reveal, accompanied by an animated trailer showcasing his skills and his remarkably toned physique (a recurring theme for male characters in this game). Initially, Deadpool was listed under the Duelist class, with a placeholder stating he would be playable on January 16. However, following the Season 5.5 update that introduced Rogue, Deadpool’s icon mysteriously shifted to the Vanguard category. This sudden change has sparked fan theories that Marvel Rivals might be hinting at a unique mechanic: Deadpool could be a 'multi-role' character capable of switching between all three classes

The first theory suggests that Deadpool could fulfill every role, but not simultaneously; players would have to choose one specific version of him from the three classes. This means if a teammate picks Deadpool as a Duelist, the Vanguard and Strategist versions would become unavailable. Furthermore, banning Deadpool would result in all three versions being banned at once. Alternatively, a wilder theory proposes that we could select Deadpool from all three roles, potentially leading to three Deadpools on a single team—or even a chaotic match featuring six Deadpools at once. It’s a headache just thinking about it!

However, the most likely theory is much simpler: 'Marvel Rivals simply placed him in the wrong category, and the update corrected his position to where he truly belongs.' There might be no hidden meaning behind it—just a minor error.
If you're wondering why fans are overthinking this, the answer is simple: 'Because it’s Deadpool.' Given his character, a Vanguard role makes sense due to his rapid Healing Factor, allowing him to act as a human shield for his team—just as we saw him being used as a literal shield in Deadpool & Wolverine (Deadpool 3). Meanwhile, his speed with katanas and guns makes him a perfect fit for a Duelist. He could even be a Strategist by using his healing factor to somehow share his regenerative powers with teammates. With Deadpool, anything is possible

Ultimately, no matter which theory proves true, fans are more than ready to welcome him. If he truly spans all three roles, it would mean the developers had to design three distinct versions of Deadpool. However, the Marvel Rivals community believes the team is more than capable of pulling this off. With a character like Deadpool, the usual rules of gaming don't apply; what seems impossible in other games feels entirely possible here. We’ll just have to wait for the official reveal before January 16 to see exactly how Deadpool will shake up the game
