Arrived without any prior announcement or promotion, Record of Ragnarok: Battle of the Gods, the epic battle between humans and gods, has reached its third season. Many likely knew about this season from Netflix's pre-release schedule, which announced which anime series would be airing that month. Upon seeing Record of Ragnarok Season 3, many immediately eagerly anticipated its premiere, and it didn't disappoint. Netflix delivered all 15 episodes at once, covering battles 7 through 10 – a truly intense three-way showdown. Given this, we've picked this anime to recommend to you. Let's take a look at what makes Record of Ragnarok Season 3 so interesting.
For those unfamiliar with Record of Ragnarok, it's an anime about battles between gods who seek to wipe out humanity. However, one rule states that humans can challenge the gods to a duel to decide their fate, guided by the Valkyries, led by Brunhild, who select historical figures to fight the gods in an arena. Even gods die permanently in this arena, never to be resurrected. The battles are therefore intense and fierce from the first match to the last.
The story alternates between battles and flashbacks of the past of the gods and humans. It's crucial to emphasize that none of the depictions of the humans and gods in this anime (and I mean *all*) are true. This includes their personalities, speech, clothing, and actions. Even the backstory of Shakyamuni Buddha is completely inaccurate. Watch it for entertainment purposes only; don't expect any profound meaning. If you do watch, I recommend the Thai dub; the voice acting is excellent and perfectly matches the characters. And if you watch without any prior knowledge, you'll find yourself rooting for the favorites, just like a human spectator in the arena!
Let's talk about Season 3. For those who haven't watched Season 3 yet, I recommend avoiding the opening theme as it spoils a lot of the plot. However, what I can say is that a new human character has been introduced: Nostradamus, the famous prophet in human history. He appears in the very first episode of Season 3, where Brunhild says Nostradamus is the joker for humanity because he's so powerful he almost destroyed the gate between heaven and hell if he hadn't been stopped (this is something hinted at in the first episode of Season 3). As for the battles in Season 3, they'll be: Qin Shi Huang vs. Hades in a King vs. King battle; the second is an inventor vs. inventor match, Beelzebub vs. Nikola Tesla; and the third is a general vs. general match, Apollo vs. Leonidas. Just the first battle, Qin Shi Huang vs. Hades, is already incredibly intense and exciting
