Nintendo fans are cheering with joy because the Nintendo Switch 2 now has new Joy-Con colors

It’s been almost a year since the Nintendo Switch 2 was released to satisfy fans, and by now, many of you likely own one and have been enjoying the incredible games Nintendo has to offer—with even more 'bangers' on the way. But before we get ahead of ourselves, many players might be getting bored with the original Joy-Con colors, which can feel a bit dull and lifeless. Recognizing this, Nintendo has given the green light to release two brand-new colors: Light Purple and Light Green. These are meant to add a vibrant splash of life to your gaming experience (or so they say!). Let’s dive into the details

The announcement of the new Light Purple and Light Green Joy-Cons for the Nintendo Switch 2 was made via Nintendo’s official X account. The post informed fans: 'These two new Joy-Con colors, Light Purple and Light Green, will be available on February 12th—the same day Mario Tennis Fever hits the shelves.' Fans who are tired of the original colors can now pre-order them through the official Nintendo Store. They are priced at $99.99  which is the same retail price as the standard Blue and Red Joy-Con models

With Nintendo going all out to please their followers, many fans cheered and were ready to throw their credit cards at these new Joy-Cons, collectively agreeing that they were bored with the original colors. However, not everyone was impressed. Some voiced their frustrations loudly on Nintendo’s X account, saying: 'These aren't light purple and green; they're just black controllers with tiny hints of purple or green. Learn the difference! People want more than just these lazy, sloppy details.' Others simply commented, 'It’s just a black Joy-Con,' while some sarcastically added, 'Once you snap them onto the Nintendo Switch 2, you can’t even see the difference. Is this what you call a color change?

In contrast, when compared to the similar Light Purple and Light Green Joy-Cons on the original Nintendo Switch, the older versions look pale and lack the vibrancy of the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. The new Joy-Cons offer much richer colors. Furthermore, when attached to the console, they maintain a familiar, easy-on-the-eyes look that doesn't feel jarring like the first model. The dominance of black as the primary color provides a bold, 'aggressive' aesthetic. However, once you detach the Joy-Cons, they reveal a striking, vivid burst of color that the original Switch simply couldn't replicate. Looking ahead, Nintendo is expected to roll out even more color options. So, if you're bored with your current Joy-Cons, it's time to go grab a pair!
