Okay, it's as advertised. The live-action Tangled movie now has two main characters.

Back when the DEI movement—or what we call 'Woke' culture—dominated the world, major global media outlets jumped on the bandwagon. This was largely because Joe Biden’s previous administration allocated budgets to media companies that met DEI criteria. As a result, these giants overhauled their movies, cartoons, and series to fit the DEI mold, often to disastrous results. A prime example is the 'mouse in red pants,' Disney, which led the charge by pushing DEI in its films to an absolute extreme. We saw this with titles like The Little Mermaid and Snow White. However, they eventually pivoted back to more 'source-accurate' casting with Lilo & Stitch and Moana. Most recently, the announcement for the live-action Tangled (Rapunzel) features a cast that stays very true to the original look of the characters

Leading the cast is Teagan Croft, who will take on the role of the long-haired princess, Rapunzel. The Australian actress is well-known for her portrayal of Rachel/White Raven in the series Titans (2018–2023) and for starring as Jessica Watson in the Australian biographical drama True Spirit. Joining her is Milo Manheim, best known for his role as Zed in Disney’s Zombies franchise. Currently, he stars as Wally in the Paramount+ series School Spirits. Beyond his acting career, he also showcased his talent by finishing as the runner-up in Season 27 of Dancing with the Stars. Safe to say, this casting is incredibly spot-on and stays perfectly true to the original characters

Reports first surfaced in December 2024 that Disney was looking to adapt Tangled into a live-action version. This followed the massive success of the original 2010 animated film, which received overwhelming critical acclaim and grossed $592.5 million worldwide, cementing its status as a modern Disney classic. While there were initial casting rumors that didn't quite match the original characters, the project hit a snag following the backlash from the live-action versions of The Little Mermaid and Snow White. This caused Disney to temporarily halt the project. However, following the success of Lilo & Stitch, these initiatives are back on track, with Moana leading the charge, followed by the highly anticipated Tangled

In addition, several other Disney live-action projects are currently in development. These include a Beauty & the Beast spin-off centered on Gaston (the ego-driven villain who met his end at the movie's climax), as well as adaptations of Hercules and Bambi. Most notably, the live-action Moana is highly anticipated and scheduled for release this July. As for the role of Mother Gothel, the spot remains vacant following Scarlett Johansson's withdrawal from the project. We’ll have to wait and see who will step into this role. If there are any further updates, we will be sure to keep you posted
