Famous stars celebrate Pokémon's 30th Anniversary with their favorite Pokémon!

Pokémon is going all out for its upcoming 30th anniversary on February 27th! To kick things off, The Pokémon Company took over the Super Bowl with their 'What's your favorite?' campaign—a year-long celebration featuring an elite lineup of singers, athletes, and superstars.

With Super Bowl ad slots costing a fortune (enough to buy a luxury house and car combined!), they spared no expense. Let’s dive in and see which celebrities made the cut and which Pokémon they call their favorites!

This minute-long commercial features seven world-class icons from the music and sports industries—you can only imagine the staggering talent fees involved! Each star shares their personal connection with Pokémon, but the real standout is Lady Gaga.

She revealed her love for Purin, known as Jigglypuff in English, even singing the iconic lullaby from the anime. For true fans, the reference is unmistakable: in the show, Jigglypuff’s song puts everyone to sleep, leading the grumpy Pokémon to scribble all over their faces. By nailing this detail, Gaga proved she’s a genuine fan who truly knows the lore, not just a spokesperson following a script

As for the other six superstars, the lineup is just as impressive:

  • Jisoo: She adores Eevee (Eievui), the ultimate fan-favorite loved by everyone for its sheer cuteness.

  • Lamine Yamal: He’s a fan of Zygarde, a Pokémon that radiates raw power and a bold, intimidating presence.

  • Charles Leclerc: He chose Arcanine (Windie), the fiery lion-dog that perfectly balances a playful, friendly nature with a protective spirit.

  • Young Miko: She’s all about Gengar, a beloved classic known for its mischievous charm and that iconic long tongue.

  • Maitreyi Ramakrishnan: She picked Luxray (Rentorar), the electric hound that looks both sleek, agile, and surprisingly adorable

  • And rounding out the group is Trevor Noah, who picked Psyduck (Koduck). Honestly, for a Pokémon this iconic, no explanation is even needed as to why everyone falls in love with this lovable, confused little duck!

The commercial wraps up by turning the question to the audience: 'No matter who you are, everyone has a favorite Pokémon. What’s yours?' Interestingly, Pikachu—the face of the franchise—didn't get a single shout-out from the stars, which feels like a bit of a snub! Poor Pika must be feeling a little heartbroken.

Rumor has it that on February 27th, a brand-new Pokémon title will be announced, along with the reveal of the new Gen's three starter Pokémon. Let’s stay tuned—that is, if you’re not too busy getting lost in Resident Evil Requiem to notice!
